Some game design and electronics:

July 02, 2003 I saw an ad, I believe that it was in Nuts and Volts (available at Amazon), for Vacuum Tube manufactures. I find it interesting that we are now making advances in what would normally be considered obsolete technology. The ad seemed to indicate that these tubes were brand new, and offered performance characteristics that could not be found elsewhere. I've known several audiophiles who swear by tube technology, but I always felt it was nostalgia. In electronics I know that some circuits are easier to build with tubes than any digital equipment, however, I thought that those were oddities kept around to demonstrate how tubes were useful. Now I am forced to wonder just how much Tubes Rock!.

July 15th, 2003 I was hoping to build a data glove. I thought that Nitinol Wire generated a charge when bent, and was hoping to use that for flex sensors. However, I have been able to find no information on the current generating abilities of Nitinol. Although Piezoelectric Film may work. I did stumble across some interesting experiments, like this A Nitinol Wire Actuated Stewart Platform (pdf), and a Lamprey-Based Undulatory Robot. In the same process I found another Beam Tek site and their Solar Engine.

And while cleaning up my hard drive I indirectly discovered a link to The Honeynet Project.

July 29th, 2003 I've been reading a lot of articles at Skotos. They have excellent articles on everything from theoretical game design to actual implementation. The one that caught my attention today was on the power of the [computer] medium.
