A little repetitious, and not very filling. |

July 7th, 2004 I'm just sick of posting right now. There is some crazy stuff going on. The Supreme Court defends the free speech right's of pornographers, while last year they threw away the Constitution. That's right! Your kids can get porn, without even being asked their age, but you cannot write a short story about Mickey Mouse, or record a variation of Gershwin. Nevermind that The Consitution states that Congress's power to grant copyright is only to be used to Promote Progress, nevermind that once something has been created, and in fact bilked to death by the current copyright holders, copyright CANNOT provide an incentive. Shoot let's just chuck 200 years of legal tradition, and put the whole country up for bid. If you can pay enough, like the Porn industry obviously can, since Disney's a backer we shouldn't be surprised, you get whatever you want, just forget about the rights and responsibilities of citizens... Look, I'm just tottally befuddled that kids can get porn on a first amendment argument, but the creativity of adults can be drastically regulated. I'm not so miffed about the Porn case, as I am the double mindeness of the Supreme Court. Normally that is their job, to establish the balance. I'm just still mad that Lessig didn't argue the simple argument, and really ticked that the court couldn't have just decided on the plain interpretation of The Consitution. This is one of the reasons I never wanted to be a lawyer, sometimes it doesn't matter that you're right. So whose with me? I say we start a Corporation then flagrantly Rip Off somebody whose term SHOULD HAVE EXPIRED and when we get hit with the felony charges (See Myth 8) we just read The Consitution into the record. Let's see a jury convict us on those charges, when the Sunny Bozo Copyright Extension Act is so obviously unconstitutional. It maybe a dangerous legal line to walk, but let them sue us out of existence, since we too will be protected by our corprate shell... just like all those fat and happy congress men. I could honestly go on for days, I'm just that upset... I feel so powerless. I'm a lower middle class citizen, what does it take to gain power in our Republic? Anyone? Well, besides money, or blackmail... I argued Constitutional Law for two years in Mock Trial, and at least three of the men I most respect are Lawyers or Judges, I always had such hope for this country... But I cannot watch The Consitution be continually ignored, while new rights are read into it by the Judicary. The utter lack of integrity is killing me. I wonder if the wife would be willing to move to Australia... |
