Consistentcy is an illusion.

Jonathan Dee opens the advertising world like a book.

October 15th, 2002 At least some people are raising awareness about why the public domain is good.

I'm afraid, very afraid. Elements of my government are wholly owned sheep. Scary, scary stuff. Please help change their minds. Make them realize that people's rights are more important than corporate profits.

I'm happy to see another tool from Eastgate Systems, the makers of Storyspace.

A link for myself to a project on the Origins of Writing.(from Girl Hacker)

October 17th, 2002 The Library of Alexandria is rebuilding. Sad to think of what was lost, but hope springs eternal. Amazon Web Services are offering 5,000 gift certificate for the best app. Now if I only had the time. As soon as I have time to play with Alexa, I'm going to add some new features.

October 18th, 2002 When I was in Mock Trial, during Highschool, I had dreams of arguing before The Court. After reading the treatment of Lawrence, I'm not sure I could handle all of the interuptions. A note about my use of Lawrence Lessig's first name. I do not know the man. My connection to him comes only from my reading about him, his work, and the one post I've read on his blog. Of course I also "report" on him and his work, in the very loose sense of that word. This seems strange to me. My parents and others in my life have always encouraged me to use Mr. or Ms. so 'n so, and I've had difficulty breaking myself of that habit after the individual gave me permission to use their first name. I feel compelled to explain my liberty. I use Lawrence as a from of tribute. I aspire to the opportunities and capabilities he embodies. He is in a very real sense a Hero to me. A role model, not neccessarily having as profound an effect as my own father, not even an inspiration; I don't do much more than talk, link, and display a bumper sticker, however, I pin my idealism on him. He is my champion. I hate the fact that the only anology that springs to mind is one of knights and madiens, but now that I think of it he is more a knight-of-the-realm: as Lancelot of myth. A man whom I would trust with my life, and indeed with my freedom. So if you need anything Lawrence, even if our ideals are ultimately lost to corprate greed, just holler.

If anyone is reading this, go and read the transcript. If you wonder why America has any right to survive, go and read the transcript. If you doubt that you live in the greatest country on earth, go and read the transcript. Because in the transcript you will see why we deserve a place here, why we are right, in the only sense of that word that is possible with men.

October 22nd, 2002 For those of you who want it all TechTV tells you how to install 39 operating systems on one box.

For all your geek fashion needs, just click over too errorwear.

An interesting idea. Helping people improve their long term thinking, by betting on the future .

I've yanked my moron alert, not a very efective google bomb. And I've found that more people deserve the title morons than can be counted. To see why the latest batch wins the title follow this link to LawMeme. Which I think Kevin ought to read.

October 23rd, 2002 I thought I wouldn't have anything to blog today. However, perterme came through. He has the clearest thoughs on 802.11b I've seen in a while. It made me stop and say, "Now that I can blog!". He also had an interesting link to seducing users to information. (Thanks peterme!)

October 24th, 2002 Don't be a sheep. Music industry spins falsehood, is an excellent piece, in a somewhat respectable place, by an actual musician.

October 29th, 2002 A bit of a brain dump today. Some people who get it when it comes to telecom. The "Paradox of the Best Network" piece is even better reading. Ebay, doesn't get it. But then again why would they? They are a big corporation who sues anyone that might even think about offering add-on services that they can't/won't offer themselves. It is ironic that they claim to create a market, when they rabidly attempt to stiffle growth in their own space.

Tangent provides a promising technology. I'll let you know if I find anything more out about them or their service.
